Kids Explore Robotics

Kids Explore Robotics was founded by an experienced Engineer (dad) and a high school student (son, now an engineering student). Son had an interest in robotics from early age when he was in the elementary school. When he got to high school, he realized that how much he loved robotics and the potential of robotics. He wanted to teach robotics to spread interest to young minds.

However, we couldn’t find an existing robotics kit that we truly felt taught the entire creative process of robotics. Most products were one-time-use, and lacked flexibility. The aspect of coding the robot to perform different actions was rarely included, and the inner workings of the motors and micro-controller were covered up.

We believed we could have a more distinct, thorough, and immersive take on robotics, so we started designing. We sought to maximize the educational value, so we wanted a relatively open-concept design to make it easy for kids to learn.

After a series of prototypes, we introduced our first robot - Robby the Drummer that can play really cool drum beats. Kids can easily modify the code to make the robot play different drum beats as they use their imagination and creativity. Since then we have introduced several other robots, all made out of wooden blocks and 3D printed parts, to maximize the learning experience that is fun, engaging, rewarding and educational.

Our goal is simply to spread interest in robotics and provide the opportunity to kids from all walks of life.

More about the Founders (Father and Son Duo):

Mr. Vinod Agrawal (Dad): I am an experienced engineer with a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. I have over 25 years of professional experience in various industries including manufacturing, finance, insurance, and education.

I have a passion for the quality education for all kids. I am also a former math tutor where I taught math to students from all walks of life. I created A+ TutorSoft, commonly known as A+ Interactive Math - an online learning math learning curriculum. I am continuing to innovate the ways I can provide essential skills to new generation of kids. Kids Explore Robotics is the result of our passion (me and my son) to spread interest in robotics to young minds.

Mr. Aarav Agrawal (son, an engineering student): I was first exposed to robotics in elementary school as I was a member of our robotics team. Although robotics captured my attention, I didn’t continue to pursue it after our family moved and I changed schools. Luckily for me, high school provided me with the opportunities to rediscover my former interest. I took engineering and computer science courses and realized again how much I appreciated robotics. I wanted to spread interest in robotics to young minds for many reasons aside from it becoming a necessity as the world around us continues to evolve with use of robots all around us.

I have held many in-person classes and camps. I have also created a series of video lessons on YouTube that teach kids the entire process of building and programming the robot for those that can’t attend the in-person classes.
